福岡・糸島に住み始めて半年も経っていない頃、唐泊ヴィレッジさんで開催されたイベントにてライブペインティングした作品を土台に、糸島で借りた部屋でコツコツと仕上げた一枚。
ライブペインティング中も家の中でも当時2歳前後だった息子が、時折、筆を加えて、そこから新たな展開が生まれていった。
気付いたら海の水の流れが龍となり、太陽の光は獅子となった。
糸島生活が始まったばかりの頃の喜びが、海と大地の力を存分に浴びる幸せが、ぎゅっと詰まった作品。
Not even six months after moving to Itoshima, Fukuoka, I made this piece — building on a live painting I'd done at an event held at Karadomari Village, then finishing it patiently in the room I was renting in Itoshima.
Both during the live painting and at home, my son — around two years old at the time — would now and then add a stroke, and from there new turns would unfold.
Before I knew it, the flow of the sea's water had become a dragon, and the light of the sun a lion.
It's a work packed tight with the joy of those first days of life in Itoshima — the happiness of bathing fully in the power of the sea and the land.
