春休みが終わり新生活がはじまる時期ですね。
この作品は昨年の春に、ご自身の節目に際して「新たな自分へ」と、迎え頂いたもの。
夏、糸島で子どもたちと参加した地引網。そこにたくさん掛かったコノシロくんたち。
たくさん捌いて昆布締めにするうちにすっかり愛着が湧いてしまい絵の中で育ててみることにした。
春、ふとピンクの枠を描きたくなった。枠を描くことで、コノシロくんがより、自由に、瑞々しく動き出した。
コラージュの原画たちは、過去に制作した絵の破片だったり、ワークショップに参加した方々がパレット代わりに使った過去DMだったり、制作中に残した絵の具を重ねたり、コツコツと描き集めてきたもの。
夏から春への時間の中で、コノシロくんはその名の通り、絵の中で魚の祭りをはじめた。
春、変化の時期は、不安定な時期でもある。
季節は巡り、わくわくもドキドキもしょんぼりも、色んな時間が色彩豊かに積み重なり、祭りの時期もやってくる。
皆様の新生活が色彩豊かで瑞々しいものとなりますように…！
It's the season when new chapters begin.
This piece was welcomed last spring at a personal turning point, with the intention of becoming “a new self.”
That summer, I joined my children for a beach seine fishing experience in Itoshima. Among the catch were many gizzard shad.
As I prepared them one after another and made kombu-jime, I grew quite attached to them—and decided to let them live on within a painting.
Then one spring day, I suddenly felt like painting a pink frame. By adding the frame, the fish began to move more freely and vividly within the space.
The original collage elements are made up of fragments from past works, old exhibition postcards once used as palettes during workshops, and layers of leftover paint built up over time.
They are things I have patiently gathered and created piece by piece.
Over the passage of time from summer to spring, the gizzard shad—true to their name—began a kind of festival within the painting.
Times of change can also be times of uncertainty.
But as the seasons turn, joy, excitement and even moments of quiet sadness all layer together in rich color—until the time for celebration arrives.
